Humans of Langwith, Part 1 - The SCOTT award committee

Senah Tuma

The Scott Award consists of a committee of students who work within Langwith, although membership to the Committee has been opened to students from any college. The work of the Committee is primarily concerned with promoting the arts within the University and local community.

We proudly work with local artists and student societies to run weekly arts based workshops. Our workshops cover a wide range of themes and mediums, and in the past we have run workshops focusing on, to name a handful, sustainability, photography, lino printing, quilt making, and pumpkin carving.

In the academic year of 2019/2020 we will be hosting Henna Society, Sewing Society and Knitting Society. We will also be hosting local artists Ian Cameron, Simon Palmour, Margaret Chalmers and Tessa Layzelle.

We also hold an annual exhibition showcasing student art at the Norman Rea Gallery. We encourage students to submit their work of any medium which fits under the umbrella of a theme. In the past we have had collages, paintings, poetry, photography, performance art, textiles, embroidery, and even taxidermy.
